Uuuuuhhhhh, Glen, don't look now but telnet as merely in internet capable
version of your dial-up modem software. You download a message packet and
dismember it in your "own time, bit by bit."

If you are connected to the internet telnet is 100% reliable - assuming that
the BBS you are trying to log onto is up and running on the net. And assuming
that you have the native wit to enter the address properly.

Other components - such as hubs, etc. may fall down and cut off an individual
BBS, area, or zone. Which is why it is nice to have alternative means to keep
your light from being buried under caterpiggles.

Also why I grab a packet from Doc's and FidoTel as well as the telnet packet
from Holodeck. It lets me check propagation of messages and allows alternate
posting routes should something slip or break - as it seems to do with some
regularity ... especially on the long Pacific routes to get to Oz. Bv)=

Preheat oven to 375øF/190øC. Line 24 cup muffin tins with
paper liners. In a large bowl whisk together the cake
flour, baking powder and salt. In a stand-alone mixer or
using a handheld electric mixer cream the butter and sugar
until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing
thoroughly after each addition. Add the vanilla and beat to
combine. If making chocolate cake add the cooled, melted
chocolate and mix well, then add in milk. Gradually add the
flour mixture into the butter mixture and mix until just
combined. Pour the batter into the prepared tins and bake
  for 20 minutes. Cool completely.

Frost the cupcakes with the tinted frosting and sprinkle
with tinted coconut for a fuzzy caterpillar. Arrange them
in a curving pattern on top of a large cutting board or
piece of cardboard covered with foil. Snip licorice into
short lengths to form antennae and legs. Place round
candies for eyes and mouth. If desired, round candies can
be placed on cupcakes for a spotted caterpillar.
