Medford is lovingly referred to as "Methford" by locals since that area has one
of the highest concentrations of meth labs in the entire US.  It used to be a
nice town, but since it's right over the border from Californica, it's turned
into a "mini-L.A." with all the associated problems.

Without going into a political discussion, I will say that Oregon is a true
"nanny" state and one has very few individual liberties there anymore.  It's
one of the reasons why I was glad to get out of that state and although I miss
its beauty, I'll never go back there again even to visit.  Speaking of West
Coast, I have family in California on my mother's side (I was born in San
Diego) and that is the sole reason I'd ever go back to that state to visit as
I've lived in California enough to not want to go back there again either. :)

That reminds me of a funny occurance: when I was working at Target a few years
ago, I worked in their "Food Avenue" preparing food (this was a "full-service"
FA; these don't exist anymore...this FA had a grill and the "full monty" for
food preperation) and I had a helper making "California" salads.  These salads
had walnuts, dried cherries, and goat cheese in them making them a rather
unusual item on FA's "standard" fare menu.

My helper cracked to me, "You know why these salads are called California
salads?"  I shook my head and she replied, "Because they're full of fruits and
nuts!"

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Quesadillas De California
 Categories: Sandwiches, Mexican
      Yield: 6 Servings

     12    Flour tortillas
    1/4 lb Butter
      1 tb Salt
      1 c  Monterey Jack; grated
      1 c  Mozzarella; grated
     15 oz Sweet cherry peppers;
           -seeded & chopped

  Spread the tortillas with the softened butter and salt on both sides.
  Let the tortillas set for one hour.  Spread with remaining butter and
  cover each tortilla with an equal amount of both cheeses and sweet
  cherry peppers.

  Place the tortillas on an ungreased cookie sheet and broil for five
  to six minutes.  The broiler should be four or five inches from the
  tortillas. Remove from the oven, cut into wedges, and serve at once.
