============================
Hi Nancy,

NB> RHf> Most likely at camp; you pick up some pretty wierd songs there.
NB> NB>> I know we sang it at camp... but I'm not positive that we
NB> _didn't_ NB>> sing it in school music class, too... ;)

RH> Wouldn't have where I went to school, that's sure!

NB> I was going to a Christian school at the time (and it was a Bible
NB> conference, too)... nothing wrong with the song, a little raucous
NB> maybe, and maybe not the best sentiments, but nothing risque or really

I went to public school but had good music teachers who taught a lot of
the old songs in the vocal music sessions. We also had work books that
taught us how to read music.

NB> of a family NB>> program we put on for their 50th wedding
NB> anniversary. On the other NB>> hand, he LOOKED like he was finding
 NB> it funny... ;)

RH> That must have been a sight! Both my parents and Steve's had an open
RH> house for their 50th, mine did also for their 60th. Steve's folks had
RH> a reception at one of their daughter's homes for their 60th; both sets
RH> had a dinner later for extended family and a few friends. A program
RH> would have been nice at some point but we barely made it to the end of
RH> the open house last year for my parents (entertaining some of the

NB> My parents were in on the planning for their 50th, we planned it as a
NB> family conference, and Mommy thought that with all the talent in the
NB> family it would be a nice addition to an otherwise basic open house

I presume your family was pretty much all in the same area then. At the
time of my parent's 50th, one sister and I were in AZ, the other one
about 90 minutes south of my parents. One brother was (and is) across
the street; the other was in Albany. He's now in Florida and we're in NC
but all the other siblings are where they were before. Both sisters are
not interested in planning, contributing financing, etc so it's usually
me and my brothers doing 90% of the work (mostly via e mail). Mom and
Dad have their input too but prefer the straight open house format.

NB> idea. We did it at church, so there'd be room for everybody. We had
NB> refreshments downstairs in the Fellowship Hall. When they had their
NB> 60th, Daddy wasn't in very good health so all we did was have the
NB> reception for them at church in the Fellowship Hall.

We did it in the Legion Hall (VFW) both times; easier for older people
to get to. Also, my parents gave up attending church years ago over an
issue that was presented in the wrong manner and setting.

 NB> note how
 NB> NB>> a recipe was progressing... ;)

RH> No, you need to write the notes in the book beside the recipe.
RH> That's the only way you will know in the future what to do with
 RH> that particular recipe.

NB> You're still assuming that the original recipe was what was really
NB> being used, and not just using that as an inspiration for something
 NB> better. ;)

 NB> I have recipes both ways... ;)

We all have ones we use as a basic one where we jump off in all
tangents. I usually make it pretty straightforward the first time but
jump off into all directions in the future. Some, tho, I will use only
as a suggestion, even the first time I make it.

Catch you later,
Ruth
