But, not uncommon with aging parents. I'm glad my brother lives where he
does; he's doing a lot that non of us other siblings could do because of
school, jobs, etc.

That's one thing I want to ask about when we go up next month. I want to
find out how they're treating the diabetes and maybe suggest some
options that might control it better. Diet is the best way but if Mom is
choosing her own meals, it's harder to control the diabetes. If the care
staff plans her meals, they should plan them with an eye to the carb
levels she is allowed, and what foods to include in the diet to
reasonably reach/keep those levels so her blood sugar numbers stay
within proper range.

Not your problem but I know you feel bad. All the hard work to get her
to reach control and then they mess things up. Bummer!
