Hello All....

  On the subject of the English Tutor.

  Where ever I go or for that matter chat via Amateur Radio
or the Internet, it amazes me with the many various accents
or dialects that exist, as well the spelling of certain words

  I look here in Canada and as well when with family in the
United States at this language called ENGLISH, and while
there is some things close, I wonder world wide which one should
be taught.

  I look to South America, and found a program started by
Globo TV of Brasil, to standardize the Portuguese taught and
spoken in that country, with proper spelling, and pronounced
properly.   Everyday, between shows, on the Network, which
is beamed to the word via satellite, they do exactly that
teach the proper Portuguese.

  I tuned  BBS London, on the short wave, and here is spoken
properly the English language, and also via their Internet
the same is done with proper spelling, and pronunication.

  ie:  Color and colour.     The first one "color" is
       spelled this way, due to the government of that time
wanting things to be Ameicanized into pronunced as hear
thus they started the switch from "colour" spelled in England
at the time to what they think they hear...thus "color"
was started.   

At the same time, as in when England was evolving, the US
with it's accents and dialects, and immigration started to
add to it's version of English, which is also the way 
Europe see it.

Companys from both England, USA, and other places totally
have those learning the English language being corrected
by citizens fom those countrys.

If you are learning english.  I suggest you think about
where you are thinking of applying your skills.   If England
and it's Commonwealth, and Europe, I would get a program
from England.    If I was going to be targetting the USA
as in a job, or being there, I would get a program from
the USA.

Another  example I had was in the letters, primarly the
letter "Z"     Some parts of the USA and in their program
pronounce it "Zed"    In programs coming from England
and Canada they correct it, when you say "Zee"   but 
in both countrys England in the south and USA in the
New England states, they use the "Zee" method.
