Hi, PETER COGGON! How are you?
on Friday, 04 of May, you wrote to ALEXANDER KORYAGIN
about "Re: April 26th"

AK>> A special diet against mosquitoes?! Very cool! May be you share a
AK>> recipe? Although I heard that people of countryside are bitten by
AK>> mosquitoes more rare than town-dwellers. There is something that
AK>> countrymen could secrete instinctively. ;) So indeed very often we
AK>> can see that when two men fishing the mosquitoes can say who is a
AK>> townsman.

PC> Alexander. I have not yet found the things to eat to keep the
PC> mosquitoes away. I am in contact with someone who does know, but as
PC> yet he has not got back to me on the subject. I need it as we're
PC> going camping in North Ontario soon .... yikes... :(

I heard that some people like to use repellent liquids not only against
mosquitoes. They could smell at it and be very high. It seems to me that is
a variant. The second one is to smoke tobacco and smell of it. It is
possible to become saturated with the tobacco at such extent that even
people will run away from you. ;) It depends on cigarette type. The French
Gitanes imho is perfectly fitting against mosquitoes. I tried to smoke it
when I lived in France for some time. ;-)

AK>> May be it is true another guess, that mosquitoes had bitten countrymen
AK>> so often that they understand when countrymen say the sacramental
AK>> phrase of Mowgli: "We be of one blood, ye and I". ;=))

PC> At the camping area, the lady there used to ride the grass cutter
PC> and the flying teeth never bothered her.

They grind them out? ;)

PC> Country people know what does and doesn't work. Just like fishing...I
PC> used to fish with a Russian many years ago, and he was a super
PC> fisherman.

Imho Russian fishermen like Russian scientists also like rather process than
result. ;) For example to drink something.

AK>> Yea, you are a pro in this business! I only went on a pair-oar on the
AK>> lake in my town. ;)

PC> When it comes to being a pro...no..not I my friend. I learned from
PC> a master, who told me one thing....that at anytime, while on a ocean,
PC> lake, river or pool one no matter how experienced can loose one's life.
PC> With that he gave me a copy of the Seaman's Manual, that all navy
PC> personal get in the Royal Navy.

It seems to be quite an interesting book. And because of it cannon be found
in the Internet. :-\

PC> Believe me Alexander ... Before I leave shore....I offer prayers, and
PC> ask for protection of my ship and those who sail in her. And when
PC> we come back, or reach the destination, I offer prayers again for
PC> the safe passage, knowing that no matter how good you are, nature
PC> is more powerful.

Yes, I see. BTW is the water temperature of the lake allows to be capsized?

AK>>> Ontario lake.It will be 170 miles distance. ;) But I did not
AK>>> understand exactly, can you get to Huron lake?

PC> Lake Ontario, is to the south of me...80km. I go north to toward
PC> the other canal that takes me into the system to go to Lake Huron.

How much does it cost to go through that canal? Is it for free?

AK>> You call them "canals": do they human-made?
PC> Yes man-made.

I always wonder when I see a big lake with fresh water and not a single
river is flowing out of it. Probably it has some underground water drain.

[skipped]
AK>> I think that it is not important where are you going, but it is very
AK>> important whom are you going to travel with. Most pleasure is inside
AK>> the train. ;)

PC> Well I hope to travel with my wife. Oh yes...I love trains. We
PC> have old fashion steam trains here.

Wow! What a marvellous sight it ought to be. When I was a boy, the power
station in my town was powered by the burning of peat taken from the local
peat bogs. Where was a wide net of the local railways to supply a peat right
to the power station. Two nice small steam trains also were alive in those
days. But when the power station began be powered by natural gas everything
was changed. The repairing of railways became unnecessary, railway sleepers
gradually had rotted. The steams trains had been scrapped. What a pity!

AK>> By the way do you speak French?
PC> No French ... but that will not stop me.

Of course! What an awful language! It seem to me I can recognise the
Frenchmen why their mutilated mouths (else they cannot pronounce French
words properly). Poor people! ;-)

[...Per aspera ad astra]
Bye PETER!
Alexander
