Hi, Ardith Hinton! How are you?
on Tuesday, 24 of July, you wrote to Alexander Koryagin
about "JUNE-22-2007"

??|> Wrong word, perhaps? I think you meant "careers".... :-)
??|> the status of real statesmen (?)
??|> and I think you meant "prosecution" here.... :-)

Putting some dust on the head. ;) Thanks.

AK>> It sounds funny but the USSR made present day democracy
AK>> in the US and the West in general. ;-)

AH> Perhaps it made many people value democracy more highly.

Yea, and include there such things as 8-hours labour day, social guarantees
etc. In short it was the end of the shameless original capitalism. Although
if me look at a Chinese workshop in California.... ;-)

AH> But just as human beings tend to think in terms of opposites, they
AH> tend to become what they fear.

What they fear? Yes, a sinner is afraid of doing a sin. ;-) From one side it
is nature, but from another side, a perverted nature; something wrong went
from the start.

AH> Thus some may use coercion to enforce their idea of democracy... (sigh).

;) _Their_ ideas of democracy to people (demos). I wonder why we call such a
state democratic? I think that the main feature of people is not an
inclination to do bad, but a belief in good tales. Even fairy-tales. That is
a real human nature. Nobody likes bad fairy-tales.

AH> Square"... that was what caught my attention initially, because of our

AH> "perestroika" signifies to the folks who make these things. It may be
AH> that Grandma has devised a way to earn some money by baking biscuits
AH> for others

There are also some people who try to make money from anything. There is no
a big difference between "perestroika" and "molotoff cocktail". You just
have to find right people. For example in Iran you can invent a cake "Bush's
death" and etc. Besides, I think the word "perestroika" was on high only at
its beginning. It has caused too much turmoil and troubles to be used as a
promotion nowadays. As Chinese speaks "I wish you not live in the time of
changing".

Bush has made perestroika in Iraq. ;-)

AH> ... just as, or so I have been told, my grandmother did by baking bread
AH> for the unmarried men who were homesteading in the same area almost a
AH> century ago! She was a recent immigrant to Canada then & I imagine
AH> these folks probably are too. But I understand that things might look
AH> different from the perspective of folks who stayed in the Old Country.
AH> Maybe you see it as an economic upheaval, where they see it as an
AH> opportunity? I don't know. For two pins I'd ask them. :-))

Of course there is a difference. Overseas you see only ostentation glamour,
but most people of Russia think that P. was made extremely clumsy and
criminally. It is not a way to do good things. Imho, the people who made P.
thought of themselves only. They thought of their near bright future
introducing in Russia a jungle law. They knew who would be predators in that
jungle. Too many victims in short, collapse of the economy. We still produce
much less than the USSR with its ineffective economy.

The October Revolution had given many people's heroes, but perestroika has
not. It is very indicative.

AK>> So many people on the West really sure that the essence
AK>> of communism is executions, tortures and prisons.

AH> If they are it's a holdover from the "Cold War" era, I think.
AH> Now we can speak freely with people from the ex-USSR & see that we're
AH> not so different after all! IMHO democracy, as it was originally
AH> conceived, is a great ideal... and so is communism. In practice,
AH> though, great ideals often change with time. And JFTR, not everything
AH> we heard years ago was bad. I heard you guys had full employment, for
AH> example, when unemployment was around 10-11% in Canada.... :-)

Not to work was immoral and there was the cult of labour for the country to
make her wealthy. Everybody has not any owner and were equal (comrids) -
something that cannot be understood by humans whose life cannot be without
servants and other inferior people. It was pity we had not reached the era
of automatic toilets. ;=) Indeed it was a problem - if everybody are equal
who must clean shit?

[...Live and let live]
Bye Ardith!
Alexander
