 >>>> MvdV> I note that you are using the past tense.

 >>>> Yes, I don't believe matt is using that scheme today.

 >> MvdV> Not just that, you said "when it was being used".
 >> MvdV> That implied it is not used any more.

 >> But only AFAIK...it may very well be in use and I don't
 >> know about it.

MvdV> Ah, so now you are admitting to be an unreliable source of
 MvdV> information.

has roy (or anyone else for that matter) stated that they are a reliable source
of info?? GMAB, please...

MvdV> Well, in that case there is little point in
MvdV> persuing the matter is there?

evidently not as you don't seem to be able to do the research or follow
along...

 >> MvdV> How so "perhaps"? You stated that the Z1B organisation ws
 >> MvdV> dissolved.

 >> And I may be wrong there. It may be non-operational, but
 >> still solvent.

 MvdV> See above.

 >>>> Dale Ross, mark lewis, etc.

 >> MvdV> Both Dale Ross and mark lewis carry echos for "private
 >> MvdV> distribution". Echos that are not in the e-list.

 >> And they're not the only ones.

MvdV> So then woho are the systems that will not carry echos not in
 MvdV> the e-list?

go to your room until you can grow up and do the research yourself... you've
been given all the pointers and preliminary data necessary for you to gather
the information you seek...

 >> OTH, there are echo tags in the elist that are only place holders
 >> and not real echoes.

MvdV> I noticed that too. More noise in the database...

no... not noise... remember, the elist is a list of echotags and the data
related to those echotags... if there are actual echos with those echotags,
that's another thing, altogether... you seem to be trying to make out the
elist, backbones, and echos as one large application when it is patently not
and much too obvious that they are individual items that are simply being used
and operated together...

 >> MvdV> No more than EP1 has to anyone connected to a Z2
 >> MvdV> system for echomail.

 >> I'm afraid you've got a one track mind. The SLA is a document
 >> that outlines the service that a backbone will provide in exhange
 >> for certain performances of its downlinks. Elisting an echo by
 >> the moderator being one of many things mentioned there. It has
 >> nothing to do with an echomail policy.

MvdV> Such an SLA /is/ an echomail policy. Whether you call it by
 MvdV> that name or not.

there you go again altering words and meanings... a SLA (service level
agreement) is not an echomail policy... it may, however, be called a service
level policy however, the SLAs in place are contractual agreements that you
either accept or not when you sign up for service from a system that has a
SLA...

 >> MvdV> Who needs "backbones" any more? (Whatever they may be.)

 >> Now you're playing dumb. Everyone in Fidonet who's been a
 >> sysop for any length of time knows what a backbone is.

MvdV> It appears to be something like pornography. No one can give
MvdV> me a usable definition, but everyone claims they can recognise
MvdV> it when they see it.

similar and you're pretty good at it, too ;)

 >> You're connected to one.

 MvdV> Really?

yup... rossC...

MvdV> I have echomail links with over a dozen systems in three
MvdV> zones. No one ever asked me to agree to an SLA.

are you sure there wasn't something in some information packet you received?

MvdV> And as I never agreed to an SLA, I am not bound by them.
 MvdV> Simple as that.

hey, that's between you and those that you get your feeds from... some of us
like to put and/or have what is expected in writting... for one thing, it helps
to prevent the rules from being changed right out from under you... in the case
of a SLA, it tells you what you can expect, servicewise, from the feed(s) with
the SLA and also tells them what they can expect from you, as a customer...

 >> MvdV> There are plenty of systems that will carry echos
 >> MvdV> that are not elisted. Just link up with one of them.

 >> Sure.

MvdV> So out of the windows goes the claim that one can not
 MvdV> disributed an unlisted echo.

no one ever said that one cannot distribute an unlisted echo... you are
confusing two seperate things, again <sigh>
