Hello Björn.
08 Sep 06 19:56, you wrote to me:
BF>>> So why didn't you learn then to read it all before making
BF>>> judgements?
JS>> I have already explained my reasons. I try not to make
JS>> judgements because as you say one post does not a thread make.
JS>> But I do respond to single posts frequently. You will notice too
JS>> that I try not to referance or judge things beyond those in that
JS>> particular message that I am responding to.
BF> We have to agree to diagree then because I don't but your explanation
BF> that easy.
If your unwilling to believe an honest answer then don't bother
asking the question.
BF>>> You overlooked the original post than as you did now. Usually I
BF>>> read every post in a thread before responding and since I don't
BF>>> see you participate in anything else except from when America is
BF>>> being "attacked" (hope you remember how " " is used) I quite
BF>>> don't understand your agenda.
JS>> That is because I don't have one. What a concept. That is
JS>> were we differ then. I don't have the time to wade through xx
JS>> number of pointless name callig, game playing messages to respond
JS>> to the one that will make those on both sides of an issue happy.
JS>> I respond to those that I read when I read them. There is no
JS>> Agenda.
BF> Everyone have an agenda, so do I.
Im happy for you then. Semantics aside, I am happy not having
one. Less temptation to play peoples games.
JS>>>> Considering the BS level around here it would only seem
JS>>>> like a reasonable course of action. I have neither the time or
JS>>>> the interest to read all the messages that come in here. And
JS>>>> no, I don't read all of either you or Roy's messages.
BF>>> But somehow you managed to read my question to Roy....
JS>> Lucky you.
BF> Somehow I don't think so.
Gosh... Now that hurts.
JS>> There are a number of reasons why I may or may not read
JS>> a particular message. Do you really want me to list them? Is it
JS>> that big of a deal? Bottom line Björn, I am not singling you out
JS>> in any way regarding what messages I respond too. I simply reply
JS>> to those that I read when I read them. If warrented (By me) I may
JS>> read a few prior messages but that doesn't mean that I will
JS>> nessesarily respond to those prior messages. I know that you will
JS>> likely look at that as selectivity. If it is it isn't for the
JS>> reasons that you think or would like to suggest.
BF> As I said, we have to agree to disagree.
It's not a matter of agreement. You asked a question and I answered
it by giving you my reasons. They are why whether you agree with them
or not.
BF>>> As I've said before, if I should play his game and respond to
BF>>> everything he says, this echo would would contain over 50
BF>>> msg./day from me but I let him do that.
JS>> There you go. I have very little time for name calling or
JS>> game playing. Hence I don't post messages all that much. Now get
JS>> me talking about computers or amateur radio and then we'll talk.
JS>> <g>
BF> I've just bought a new little 12.1" toy with everything. A
BF> Fujisu-Siemens Amilo Pro V3205 and if you're intrested in more you
BF> should see my Internet connection. I get it via radio so I have a dish
BF> for that at a neighbours house and from there it coms to me via a
BF> D-Link radio-link with 2 additional dish'es.
I have a Dell, a Sony, and a Micron. The Micron laptop is the oldest
and I use it for HAM activities, DX logging, and programming the radios
here, Etc. It also has a real RS232 serial port. Something that the
manufacturer of the newer machines declined to include. My daughter has
pretty well confiscated the Sony as hers. Until she (14YO) can earn to
get her own. As a rule I build my own desktop PC's as I have found few
manufacturers that build them to my liking. Most don't have the setup or
hardware options that I would like.
BF>>> But you haven't learned when I or for example Ward, are serious
BF>>> or pushing buttons. That is to be a bit of a selective reader.
If you insist on me having an agenda. I guess it would be to better
learn and understand others.
JS>> The selectivity if there is some is more based on how
JS>> serious the message or thread is versus the BS content. It isn't
JS>> based on the poster as we all say smart, intelligent, dumb,
JS>> insulting, thoughtful, ignorant, sacastic things.
JS>> Then I have some learning to do then. When people better
JS>> understand each other then something important has been
JS>> accomplished.
BF> I think (hope anyway) that I know everyone excep 2.
Gee.. How many quesses do I get? <g>
JS>>>> I tend to overlook the BS
JS>>>> and focus on the more serious stuff. What little there still
JS>>>> is. You probably see that as selective reading on my part. It
JS>>>> actually may be but not for the reasons that you suggest.
BF>>> Yes, I do since, see above, you don't partitipate in anything
BF>>> else than when America is being "attacked".
Then stop attacking us USAians. You seem quick to attack and
then say "Well, you made me do it" or words to that effect. I think
I have a realistic view of the strengths and weaknesses of my country.
And yes I am willing to defend my country if attacked. I would expect
no less of you about yours.
JS>> Looks like you have some learning to do too. Huh?
BF> The only one who can convince me about that it you.
Then I will see what I can do.
JS>>>> Maybe when I grow old and feeble minded I can read and
JS>>>> post more. Adding more giberish to the existing giberish.
JS>>>> Gosh.... We there already? Wow, short trip.
BF>>> What's considered BS or not is up to the reader
JS>> True enough.
BF> And then it's just to use Next key.
BF>>> and if you consider
BF>>> it's BS to understand for example how it is to ride a bike
BF>>> through Australia like David has done is up to you. For the rest
BF>>> (some anyway) of us it is to getting to know how life can be
BF>>> traveling that way and to see the pics from that trip was very
BF>>> interesting. But if you don't have that interest it's just to
BF>>> use the "next" key but don't call it BS. Some of us do have an
BF>>> interset of understanding how others have it, how they live and
BF>>> what they do.
JS>> Please don't put words in my mouth. What you referance is
JS>> the stuff nice intelligent coversations are made of. BS to me
JS>> consists of things like name calling, swearing, game playing,
JS>> baiting, bravado, needless sarcasm, etc. Some people seem to
JS>> think that some of those are nessesary in order to communicate. I
JS>> do not. You might get an occasional 'Damn' or 'Shit' out of me
JS>> and an occasional attempt at being a smartass.
BF> That' how it should be. Pity that not everyone have gotten that.
And I don't expect that everyone ever will. If things continue on
as they are or get even worse here in Fidonet. I would suspect that people
will continue the current trend.
