That's easy: it was warm. The strange thing is that my dominant white (deaf)
male Peter likes to sleep under my bed, on the floor. Sometimes he also comes
onto the bed, but that depends on his mood. And on me - I tend to twist and
turn when I'm sleeping.

Always cautious. Some cats are different than others. I've had cats that
positively _loved_ strangers - ask Ward Dossche sometime about how my "Fang"
liked to slither between his feet... Ward didn't like that very much, but Fang
thought it delightful ;-)

Other cats, other habits. Ours have always been outside when they wanted to be.

That can be problematic, though. I can remember a time when we lived in
Montreal that one of our cats went out in winter (-20ø-30øC) and came back with
_frozen_ ears. The ears thawed in a day or so, but then drooped for a week or
more before straightening up again. The cat looked like a poodle for that week
;-)

Still and all, all of our cats have always been "Freigaenger" (free to go
outside) and we've never had one run over. However, there are places,
particularly in the States, where that's dangerous. My cousin in New Mexico
tells me there are coyotes around that just _love_ a cat dinner. Naturally, his
cat doesn't go outside.
