They are. Hughes was overpriced when I checked them out at $100 install
and about the same per month. I'm afraid to look into Dish and Direct
because I know what I pay for Sat TV. At the moment, AT&T's U-verse is a
deal at $29/mo compared to what I pay for Sat TV.

Unfortunately that's part of the 'package' deal, but I'm told that you can
get things seperated...and frankly, what is offered is garbage IMO. I've
been thinking about dropping Dishnet for a couple of months now, but am
reluctant to do so until I'm offered a package that I can't refuse to
take.

At one time Bob indicated that he visits a library in one of the towns
nearby to access the internet. If he had an email account on the order of
an online email service where you get lots of storage, like Yahoo or
Hotmail. He could then get packets of Fidonet echomail via file attached
email. Copy those to a floppy and use those to read/reply to echomail at
home. Something like that wouldn't cost him anything but a couple of
gallons of fuel...
