Hello Everybody,

Shawn Highfield is doing what many other sysops are also doing.
And I commend all who are taking this step, as this is a protection
that everybody, sysop and non-sysop alike, deserves.

The use of a pseudonym is a protection against many things,
including identity theft.  No individual should be forced to
use his/her own "real name" in any public forum, especially
in this day and age when everything is online for all to see.

The dangers are real, and should be taken seriously by everyone.
One of the reasons why Fidonet has so few participants is the
insistence of sysops for participants to use their own real names.
This has to stop.

The nodelist has been abused, and is easy to abuse.  It is not
accurate today, nor was it accurate yesterday.  There is no way
any nodelist can be accurate, as people lie.  Everybody knows
this, but few want to admit it.

Janis Kracht, who pretends to be Z1C, says that all sysops and
moderators have the absolute right to use a pseudonym, but nobody
else does.  That is her rule.  And so we all must obey.  That is
why I have declared myself Moderator of FN_SYSOP and have given
everybody the absolute right and freedom to use the pseudonym of
their choice.
