8^) Being 'from' the hinterlands, it was a treat to live in the big city
and have those hobby stores available within a few miles of home.

It was from a store like AES, but not AES's catalog...they don't last long
around here, at least not as long as aftermarket automotive catalogs do.

My friend Monty, now deseased, used to have on hand any coax you might
need at a moments notice. He never carried the cheap crap like RG8X, but
the better coax like RG8, RG11, 1/2" and 7/8" hardline. If you could wait
a couple of days, he'd even find some 1 1/2" hardline in his stash.

8^) Rather than use up what I brought with me from SD, I opted to buy some
RG8X coax on Ebay. It was cheap enough where the shipping didn't make the
cost exhorbitant. I looked at it a couple of weeks ago and the Texas sun
has hardened and cracked the cover, making that chunk of coax unusable,
except for a CB radio that I monitor while in the shop.

Gonna have to replace it one of these days.
