Hey CHARLES!

Right except in my case that wasn't doable given the target was a Sparc station
which at that time was totally removed compatibility-wise from my 386. I
recall jumping through far too many hoops to make that DOS bax behave more
Unixie. I don't miss those daze whatsoever no matter how bored I get.

CA> As I've said, I've always been 'online' even before the www. :-)

Me too. I recall attending a seminar when they were first bringing the www
online and wasn't all that enamoured with the idea then. Funny thing is I am
still not any more enamoured with it despite all the changes since.
Occasionally it is okay but overall I could live without 99% of what is there
without shedding a tear.

Never happened here. In fact it was an math prof friend of mine who convinced
me that I should be using Slackware. The first time he saw it he thought it
would be my cup of tea. He was right.

Not an issue here with Slackware. It works for me.

I am mostly interested if f95 which is evoloving with gcc4. I figured I'd play
along and see where it goes. If it were just C then I'd agree with your above
sentiment 100%.

:-)

Not at the moment. I have the source though so it isn't the issue. Also I'd
want to use the daemon (server) on the BBS so that it would be an option to a
user. However I'd probably be the only user of it. All the locals are still
using IE although some of them are starting to see why I only use Linux. I am
picking away at them and doing my best to get them Fidoing but it looks to me
that I am going to have to alter the way they do Fido wrt the rest of the Fido
world in order to get them chatting. They do contribute to my messaging every
once and awhile. Their machines can't do Fido which is why I figure I need to
change the offlining a tad so that they can use whatever they have to achieve
that end.

Life is good,
Maurice
