Not yet.  I don't think it would be that easy to encode with the video.  Anyhow
the xvid (mpeg4) with lamemp3 got me under the 1G mark and with the additional
crop brought it down another 90M.  Other then doing the two pass using the same
parameters to keep this quality intact I am doubtful any better can be done.  I
definetly want to play with vorbis on pure audio as I think messing with this
movie anymore isn't worth any extra bytes I may gain.  This is the best I can
come up with at the moment.

So now the two pass and I'll see if that was worth it.

My neighbour has tons of them, along with vhs tapes.  He seems to appreciate
this idea more then I do but is glad it's me doing the tweaking and figuring
out.  As soon as I am happy I did all I can then I'll pass on this information
to him and he can use it for his cause.

I am thinking mobility more then silence.  The less moving parts, especially
mission critical parts, the better methinks.  The video won't have to be
anything special so cooling there isn't an issue.  As far as my digital vcr
project it really doesn't matter if it has fans or not but it gives me an
opportunity to experiment so why not?
