Hi Maurice :)

That's the truth :)

>> Yep, know what you mean... I run into it now and again as well :(

Lol - maybe I will mention it to the web master guy <grin>

>> I use Mozilla Firefox when I have to go into Xwindows for some site

>That isn't too bad but a bit bloated methinks. Like I said, usually no reason

Yep, it's a bit bloated, but it's not too bad.. I don't run X all day.. only
when I need to.. sure, it's installed but doesn't get used that often.. I run
all the other stuff I do all day on consoles.. works for me <grin>.. I just
could never stand windowy things.. works for me :)

>> or whatever.. Most times I'm on a console running lynx though..<g>.

Yep, it does ;) Sometimes I use wget to grab a page too.. not too often.. bbbs
even lets you do essentially that if you come in on the telnet interface.. I
could probably write a script in it's programming language to let you do that
from the Web Interface, but I haven't done that yet as you've probably seen
<grin>

>> Sure, I understand.. didn't think you would really... it's a tool for

> Right. I did note that it is terminal based which I though was interesting.
> Looks like they are sparing the horsepower for the important work, which is a

Lol :) I will tell them that :) :)

Yep..

>> Right.. those vax/vms systems weren't PC's that's for sure <grin>..

>There is an understatement if I've ever seen one. I was told it took 24 hours
>to boot the sucker up and I believed it although I never actually witnessed it

Wow.. 24 hours.. :) (go home, get some sleep, come in, get some coffee, hang
around, get ready to go home.... it's ready ... <g>)

>> we were definitely addicted <laugh> Well, I was.. it took him a

> where I started to see the value in it.

hehe.. you know, I have never installed the c-shell.. I thought about it a
couple of times.. just never did ... I use bash for all the scripts I do..
works for me.. maybe someday I'll check it out..

 >> Ah, the select few :)

> Heh, heh. The biggest sucker is more likely. :-)

Lol :)

:) :)

When we finally bought our 2nd computer, it was a Leading Edge ..wow..
<grin>.. Had a 10 meg drive, so we put dos on 5 meg, and Mark William's
Coherent on the other 5 meg partition so we could learn unix.. then we started
looking as some of the unix systems.. I'm trying to remember the name of the
one I fell in love with <bg>.. geez.. blanked out.. it was quite a system..
somehow I think later the Lisa might have been based on that cpu but I could be
way off.. been too many years <grin>. We didn't get it though.. we decided to
stick with dos and try to make a living <smile>..

>> the only thing I ever got to touch in college
>> that was computerized was a light board for plays when I did Stage
>> managing on tour we took with a play one year :) Sad..

> That sounds like fun. I could have probably got into that.

Yeah, it was cool :) Though I much preferred being the star of the show
<laugh> Acting was all I really knew then :) The stage manager job was
something I got suckered into by the director because he said I'd be good.. and
I was.. but.. it's not the same if you know what I mean haha

>>> Yeah that is a real boar's nest for sure.

>> Can be indeed... ;)

> For sure. Another understatement?

Lol.. I think so :)

Take care,
Janis
