Hey James!

I like rackmounts but can't say much for anything less then 4U. The 4U ones
seem perfect and have never understood the attraction to thinner ones although
that seems to be the trend for whatever reason.

Reminds me of expensive surveying equipment that tends to go missing until
whoever realizes that it is only worth that much to the people who know what
for and how to use it. I know some stories around that sort of stuff.

JB> Either kickin' stuff up, or trying to wipe it off the boots.
JB> Either way, I'm in *it* every day.

Same here. I should probably stick to what I want and get that up to snuff.

JB> I think Nortel has no other choice but to bend over, and take it

I doubt it'll matter much longer if indeed that point hasn't been reached
before this.

JB> You can call it anything you want, but the Dell looks like a
 JB> no-go too.

I find that hard to believe but you probably know more about that then I do.
I've never seen one in action.

JB> Two pages total of BIOS settings, and not a one
 JB> mention of PNP.

Okay. It was a thought.

JB> If only... What're you gonna do, eh?

Two things; nothing and FA. :-)

 JB> over stuff.

Right. Good plan methinks.

JB> Huh??? The PCI bus doesn't report it as being there? Time to
 JB> clean the contacts?

Brand new. I am convinced I won't be buying anything with nforce chipsets in
the future. Also noted that AMD bought out ATI the day before yesterday so I
imagine it'll be a rough ride for whoever makes nvidia in the near future.
Whoever is contracting them better have deep pockets since I doubt they'll be
supported much by anyone else for much longer. I won't be missing them any.

JB> Hey... Whatever floats your boat. I've a USB camera I've been
JB> meaning to toy with on Slack, and an RS232 cable to day-timer
JB> I've been planning to bash out a few conversions for. Inevitably,
JB> it will be hardwired to accept its own version of delimited text,
JB> I'm sure that should prove entertaining.

I don't know much about usb camera connections other then using the flashdisks
from them directly (works great with usb-storage) but the serial stuff is a
piece of cake for sure. Keeping it simple (delimited text) is a really good
idea. I've been successful with all sorts of serial devices doing exactly
that.

JB> But for right now, I have two 6V gel cell batteries hooked up to
 JB> a 12V wall wart, but uncharacteristically, I actually have a fuse

That sounds really interesting. I need to get back to doing stuff like that.
Beats me why I haven't been since I think it is important and appears to be
getting more important lately.

MK>> Yep. I know the type.

JB> And the universe is as it should be.

Something like that.

Life is good,
Maurice
