It works good.

I can't say anything about them as I haven't run across one yet. I didn't care
much for the P4 Celerons as we (neighbour and I) both could run circles around
that with regular P3's.

 WC> MadTux 2.53 GHz 64-bit Affordable Performance PC   $199.00 $179.00

Must be one of the early ones (S478). Probably okay, especially given the
price.

It should.  Here is what I am curently working with;

Sounds good. Like I said, the Matrox G450 AGP card should work great on there.
 As for the Intel Extreme Graphics engine I cannot say I am as impressed with
that as I am with the current Matrox PCI card I put on here but it is definetly
better with console graphics then the NVidia one on the AM2 board. As to the
PCI card on the Intel lspci shows;

05:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Matrox Graphics, Inc. MGA G400/G450 (rev 85)
(prog-if 00 [VGA])
        Subsystem: Matrox Graphics, Inc. Millennium G450 32Mb Dual Head PCI
        Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 177
        Memory at 48000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=32M]
        Memory at 4b000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
        Memory at 4a800000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8M]
        Expansion ROM at 4b020000 [disabled] [size=128K]
        Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 2
        Capabilities: [f0] AGP version 2.0

Works great. Nothing beats a Matrox.

My neighbour claims he got the above working but I haven't heard it yet and am
happy with the PCI card which has worked great for years now;

04:00.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 (rev 0a)
        Subsystem: Creative Labs SBLive! 5.1 Digital Model SB0220
        Flags: bus master, fast Back2Back, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 58
        I/O ports at 1140 [size=32]
        Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 1

For sure. I think it is worth the gamble.

 WC> These are brand new PCs with the CPU certificate of authenticity from

Sounds good.

 WC> From what I gather that's all it is at around 30 plus Meg.

ttylinux can do the same in 4M (a little over 6M for 64-bit).

I'll have a looksee myself. Thanks for the heads up.

I have around 30 of the ISA ones (509) if you're in need. Way better then
ne2000's.

 WC> I'm not messing with it until backed up in depth shortly.

For sure! Always have a backup but I would suggest doing a different install
of a new distro before making a permanent change. One step at a time.

 WC> All I know about it is it's AGP and works rather well in 1024x768.
 WC> I've saved svgafb.txt from my distribution to my text directory for
 WC> review.

svga is slow. I didn't know that was still being supported.

 WC> Well this has run too long so I'm off to study this for a few more
 WC> days.

Sounds great.

Life is good,
Maurice
