This makes no sense to me. The whole point of time-shifting is to be =
able to watch something at your conveneince-not the providers. I can't =
believe that a 24-hr time-shift will be acceptable.
Then again, "stupid is as stupid does"....

that will add a new layer of anticopying defenses to video content being =

The Macrovision technology has been one attempt to limit this. =
Rather than scrambling the signal altogether, as digital copy protection =
typically does, it includes a pulse of electronic energy along with the = video
as it is played. The pulse is meant to indicate the content should = not be
recorded. Many devices such as DVD recorders respect this signal = and block

Under the new deal, Microsoft's Windows Media software will =
recognize this signal when it is included in incoming analog video = streams.
For upcoming versions of its Microsoft's Media Center Edition = operating

How does that differ from what was said? MacroVision is an =
analog technology and you plan to somehow marry it with Windows to = "protect"

I assure you - being consumer hostile is not the way to =
success in business.
The whole "loss of revenue" argument from these people has =
been proven bogus time and time again. They whine with every new = technology
that comes along and their sales continue. =20
