There is damn little else they can grow that will give them the level of profit
they get from poppy production.  And they've been growing that stuff since long
before we ever got there.  Until we, or somebody else, can substitute something
of equal value, it will continue.

We ensure the oil keeps flowing, yes.  But not just for us, its for the whole
world.  Btw, US oil companies don't own any of those wells anymore because the
local governments long ago nationalized those wells.  The oil companies make
their money by contracting out to prospect for oil, by contracting to run the
wells and distribution centers.
