The problem is not with those growing the stuff, whether its opium in
Afghanistan or coca in Columbia.  The problem is the demand HERE.  If we
eliminate the demand, then they will have no place to sell their product, or at
least a very much reduced market for it.  But that's a different discussion.

I've known several people over the years that worked in the Saudi oil fields.
They made tons of money, but it was damned hard work, and they were mostly
restricted to the compounds set up for foreign workers by the Saudi gov't.  It
is dangerous work, and those countries could slam the door on the oil companies
at any time, putting all our citizens working there in extreme danger.  Those
people don't want us there, but they need our expertise to keep their oil
fields functioning, so they tolerate us.  Does that sound like it amounts to
the same thing?  I don't think so.
