Ärende: What's in... 2.
========================
Hi again, James! This is a continuation of my previous message to you:

AH> For me, it would be a lot more productive to examine
AH> the questions he's raised in my mind.... :-))

JB> Sure... Ya... Right... <G+D>

Such as... if Colin was such a nice man, why did he need a goon
squad? That's the sort of question which makes history interesting for me...
[chuckle].

AH> But neither of us is as extreme as the guy who broke both
AH> legs & couldn't wait to get back to doing whatever he was
AH> doing at the time!

JB> Oh, ya... That guy. "Same waggon: Same hill?" Sure, get
JB> back on the horse, but don't run him off the same cliff!
JB> The horse is bound to let you go it alone at the last
JB> moment. Maybe that's why they call it 'horse sense'. <-:

The extreme SP may not relate cause & effect in such a situation.
You or I would probably decide we don't like having both legs broken & try to
figure out how to avoid repeating our mistake(s). We're not quite as laid back
as this person with regard to living in the moment & taking things as they
come.... :-)

JB> now I have to remind myself what the "P" stands for
JB> again. (Did I mention, I need a hot soak? ;-)

Uh-huh. "P" is perception. You've perceived that you need a hot
soak right now. That's okay. I'll just type a bit more while you're gone...
[grin].

JB> My little experience this afternoon was a prime example
JB> that I was perceiving events, and making snap judgements,
JB> yet continued to be perplexed by my imagining the events
JB> that lead to the altercation.

Yes, and that's the sort of remark which tells me your reasoning
style lies somewhere in the "perception" half of the continuum. For your own
safety & that of the other people involved you had to make snap judgements
about what was going on. But having done so, you didn't say to yourself "My
mind is made up... don't confuse me with facts!" and go racing off in pursuit
of something else you could make snap judgements about. You continued to
notice further details which might have some bearing on the subject. You're
aware of your own state of mind, so you're able to acknowledge your perplexity
about this incident. And you have the ability to imagine any number of
possible explanations for what you observed
... which tells me there's also an "intuitive" component to your reasoning.
:-)

JB> I think I could restrain myself if someone was just
JB> making me frustrated, which I am 'judging' is what
JB> separates the functional, from the deviant.

Could be. Although you may feel like (literally) smacking some
people upside the head or whatever, you don't just act on impulse. Recognizing
when it is inappropriate to do so, IMHO, requires a certain amount of
judgement.... :-)

JB> Ah, and I thought I was going to sit on my hands today!

Not with me around, if I can help it... [chuckle].
