Hi yet again, James!  This is the last installment in the current series:

         Okay.  I'm not trying to talk you out of feeling the way you do... I'm
just brainstorming (as usual).  I'm glad to see that you're able to acknowledge
your feelings, whether "positive" or "negative" ones, because they can tell you
a lot.  If it's really important to you there may be a way to achieve your goal
... perhaps with a few modifications.  We go camping and/or kayaking when we've
had enough of the city, for example, and we see other folks using wheelchairs &
scooters in the most unlikely places.  As to a permanent home you may be better
off where you are now, or you may have to wait awhile for the perfect place.  I
find that some things will jump out & say hello in their own good time....  :-)

         It's disappointing, I'm sure, and it may leave you with less incentive
to carry on with some activities which have probably contributed to your health
& well-being so far.  But if you enjoy tinkering with machines & whatnot... I'm
not sure one can ever have a surplus of tools.  I used to think I didn't really
need many of the kitchen gadgets I possessed.  Now I find it quite amusing when
Nora's young rehab. aide says (in the middle of a cooking project) "Oh, Ardith,
do you have a (rolling pin, flour sifter, pizza cutter, or...)??"  Usually what
she's doing is trying out various ways to accomplish a certain task in a recipe
designed for people who can use both hands.  And I've always managed to produce
the required item within a few minutes, even if it hasn't seen the light of day
for some time.  I often wonder whether she realizes how fortunate she is.  :-))

         Uh-huh.  You have to work with what you have now.  Maybe, though... in
a metaphysical sense... you're right where you're supposed to be.  One can't be
sure what will happen in the future *or* what would have happened if things had
been done differently.  "Onward & awkward", that's my motto.  :-)

         Agreed.  I also have longevity in my family tree & I see how it can be
a mixed blessing in some ways.  Once again, though, if you play the hand you've
been dealt without making unnecessary judgements you won't be spending a lot of
mental/emotional energy on what might have been.  That's my preference....  :-)
