>Yeah, but imagine Trip's reactions had he been able to hear the
>conversation. Especially after T'Pol said "You don't have to do

>out. Take it! Take it!". LOL!

Sounds a bit soapy (or sitcom-ish, depending on how it would be played) to
me...

> Speaking of those two, we know
>Spock was the first Human/Vulcan hybrid, but has it been stated
>anywhere that Sarak and Amanda were the first Vulcan and Human couple?

I don't believe there's any proof one way or another on screen, although I'd
have to rewatch a number of epiosdes (mainly TNG's "Sarek," as I haven't
seen that one in a while). I think there might've been a novel that touched
on Sarek and Amanda's past, but I can't even recall which one or if I've
even read it (rather than read *about* it), much less what it said about
their marriage.

Perhaps the strongest evidence for other Vulcan/Human unions, though, comes
from "Journey to Babel." Kirk, Spock, and McCoy walk to the shuttlebay to
greet Vulcan Ambassador Sarek and his wife. Sarek and his human wife arrive
and Kirk welcomes them, but Sarek gives Spock the cold shoulder. As Sarek
and Amanda start to make their way out, Kirk asks Spock if he wants to check
up on his parents while on Vulcan. Spock replies that the ambassador and
his wife *are* his parents.

While I suppose a number of things could be read into this scene, I came out
of it with the impression that Kirk didn't find it particularly unusual that
Sarek had married a human. It might've not been the most common thing in
the Federation, but not something Kirk had never heard of before. After
all, if it really was that rare, shouldn't he have made the leap long before
then?

Of course, there is also the possibility that Kirk was just clueless about
Vulcan/Human matings, thinking nothing about how many there might be, one
way or the other.

In any case, I'm kind of surprised this didn't come up long before Sarek
arrived in the briefing room. If Kirk noticed Sarek had a human wife, you
would think he'd ask his first officer who is familiar with such things if
he had ever encountered the ambassador previously.

> What did Shran mean when he said,
>"Tell Archer now he owes me too!"? Did he help save the Enterprise
>at one point in the battle? I need to go back and rewatch that. I
>would think Shran owes both Trip and Soval big time for coming to him
>and telling him what was going on.

The first one that Archer owed him for was helping to save Earth back in
"Zero Hour." I'm not sure Archer is particularly aware of this, though, as
he was kind of busy almost dying at the time, then being thrown through
time, and restoring the timeline. I'm sure the Xindi Aboreal could've told
Reed, who later passed it on to Archer. But somehow I think part about
owing probably would've been lost along the way...

As far as the second time that Archer now owes him, my guess is that Shran
was refering to helping keep Enterprise in one piece as well as keeping
Earth out of an interstellar war (which also benefits Shran, but he probably
ignored that little part..).

This has been a running gag from the beginning with Shran, in any case. (He
"owed Archer one" for uncovering the listening post on P'Jem, for instance.)
