Yes, it's very nice; my car now emails me once a month for diagnostics.  If I
get lost, I can get directions.  If I break down, I don't even get out of the
car.  I just press the little blue button and I can get roadside assistance. 
If there's an accident, either of mine or one I see, I press the red emergency
button and help is sent.  If I get locked out of my car, I just call OnStar
and they unlock my VUE for me.  If my wife drives the car and it breaks down,
I know she can be safe by never having to leave the vehicle to get help.

As for Big Brother, well, that's been happening for a long time in various
ways.  It doesn't bother me in the least bit.  After all, if my car gets
stolen, all I have to do is call OnStar and they can locate the car pretty
much anywhere in the world to within 20 meters.  I'll trade an occasional peek
to having that much peace of mind.

I've had the distinct pleasure of breaking down 200 miles out of Cheyenne,
Wyoming.  I had to sit for 1.5 hours before a car came by and even then I had
to get a ride into the next town 45 miles away.  With OnStar, I am towed free
to the nearest Saturn dealership no matter how far it is.

I can't really complain. :)

P.S. I wear my seatbelt 100% of the time as I've had the opportunity of going
through a windshield because I wasn't wearing a seatbelt.  Anyone who doesn't
wear one gets what they deserve.
