Yeah.. this looked like white powdery dust, and on some of the oranges it was
all over them.. sadly enough.. on others, it was just on one side, that kind of
thing.

I think the thickness or not of the skin might have affected these particular
ones as well.  Normally, a navel orange has such a thick skin, you know?  If
these had been like that, perhaps the underlying thick white under-skin that
makes those oranges easier to peel also would have protected them some.. On
these organic ones, the skin was SO thin, it was more like an apple - you
really could barely peel them.    Oh well, sad anyway.

Oh yeah, I can picture that as well :(  They used to ship the produce with cold
packs to keep things fresh.. maybe they were cutting corners since they figured
we were "closer to winter" than not (g).
