No, it's just a "straight" FWD with "traction control" (that isn't worth a
damn).

I remember the Mercury Montego as my mom had one around that time.  I know
about the GT Sport; there is one in mint condition, painted in the S&H "style",
that runs around town.  Many years ago when my mom was working (1982-83?) her
boss had one that he would let her drive occasionally.

I liked Mercury vehicles. As you said, they generally had extra "touches" that
their sister Ford models didn't.

We bought the VUE to keep it until it falls apart.  It's at 51,000 miles and
doing quite well.  Ironically, we didn't buy that truck to drive all the time
as it was going to be our "trip" vehicle.  But our '94 Civic died and we never
replaced it, driving the VUE instead.  But I think we're going to try to find
something here in the near future.

      Title: Coconut Macaroons
 Categories: Cookies, 1941
      Yield: 6 servings

      2    Egg whites
    2/3 c  Sweetened condensed milk
    1/2 ts Salt
  2 1/2 c  Coconut
      1 ts Vanilla
    1/2 ts Almond flavoring

  Beat egg whites until stiff and dry.  Combine milk, salt, coconut, and
  flavorings.  Mix thoroughly.  Carefully fold into egg whites. Drop by
  teaspoonfuls onto well-oiled baking sheet. Bake in slow oven (325 F)
