Shipping is a large part of it all - I just got a box of
Jaume Cotes du Rhone for under $16 (i.e., under $4 a bottle),
whereas the per glass bottle price for the same wine is about
$10; problem is that if it's there open like that, one drinks
at least twice as much. But taxes are an even larger part, so
North Dakota must have very low ones.

 (at least that part of NA which has rodeos).

I was going to say.

Enough to be happy with. Bless those ice road truckers. Actually,
I could do with just the two Glens. In fact, it's been a couple
months since I had any Scotch besides Glenlivet. The Mayflower
that Helen served was a Bourbon blend, not the Scotch.

One would be hard pressed to find an Indian single malt here,
and the prices are out of sight and out of proportion, even
when one does.

And there's no Mekong to fall back on when one's pocketbook
starts to get thin.

She's getting bold and now says that this may be dress
rehearsal for Svalbard (where when you leave town you
must carry a rifle of at least .30-06 power to fend off
polar bears).

Ah, the good old days. I always pooped out after 3 or 4.

Considering the size of the drops that dripped off those
glass rods in iodine bottles, I fervently hope that his
medical acumen is more finely honed than his taste buds.

Woodford ruby
cat: booze, airline
servings: 1

1 1/2 oz Woodford Reserve Bourbon
3 oz dry red wine
1 oz simple syrup
1 squeeze lemon juice

Shake with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass.
Garnish: lemon twist.
