Not everyone is used to being a monopoly & to controlling the market.

Nope it's about easy access etc. Much more than simply notes on an underground.
That's just one example. The smartphone is always on & ready to go & in your
pocket. The laptop is in it's carry bag powered off. Which offers greater
functionality?

Mouese & keyboard - bluetooth/usb. I have seen a number of people tapping away
on fold up bluetooth keyboards.

I have a laptop for work. I looked at smartphones & realised that I actively
like being out of touch at times. However I do use the nokia to hook into my
imap/smtp server at home. However music player & fm radio answers most of my
needs.

Work want me to get a smartphone & I am resisting.

Most others have them & I am accused of being a luddite.

However I realise than in 2 years or so the smartphone will be the pc for the
masses.

Look at all the various studies which show that most people want/need a
spreadsheet, word processor, email, im & web browser & then look at where
smartphones are now & where they will be.
