Ärende: What's in... 4C.
=========================
Hi, James! Recently you wrote in a message to Ardith Hinton:

JB> I'd like to say I only make smart decisions with
JB> purchases, and in turning around these items, but
JB> alas, I'm still not a super-human. I am pretty
JB> good though

Okay. While there may still be room for improvement, I think "pretty
good" is a far more realistic & attainable goal than being super-human.... :-)

JB> maybe because of my earlier transgressions, people
JB> are a little shy to get into a bidding war with me.

So a few mistakes may not be altogether a bad thing... [chuckle].

AH> Intuition + perception

JB> Even if I were to part it out, I was fully planing on
JB> using the rack system to house a recording studio.
JB> Because it was full of REALLY robust broadcast equipment
JB> was just the icing on the cake.

Ah... so I was right for the wrong reasons (typical of me). You were
able to see a related but different use for these racks & for some of the other
equipment which came along with them. You left some options open too, however,
pending further investigation. IMHO that requires the same skill set.... :-))

JB> I mentioned I had a fella chase me out of the room with
JB> his check-book in hand? It was funny like you wouldn't
JB> believe. I scoped out the two the day earlier, and knew
JB> they would likely compete with me for a lot of the same
JB> pieces. Came day two, and the 'musicians' slept in!

That is funny! And very reassuring. Reminds me of the time Nora won
a door prize at a friend's percussion recital. Hers was the first ticket to be
drawn, so we got first choice. I'd had my eye on a Zildjian t-shirt which just
happened to be the right size for her... and she liked it too. Then as we were
leaving somebody ran up to us offering to trade. We politely declined.... :-)

JB> Just don't ask me to toss the optics from the X-ray
JB> printer, its case, or anything but the carcase to
JB> the laser.

          I wouldn't dream of it... one man's trash is another's treasure. ;-)

JB> I know there are always a few vendors there that get
JB> screaming deals, and housewives that spend a fortune
JB> on silk plants.

Gee, maybe I should have sent those plastic flowers to auction that I
found in my parents' house. We gave them to the school drama department. :-))

AH> Kicking oneself isn't allowed here.... ;-)

JB> Self deprecation is encouraged where I come from.

Well, okay... as long as you're poking fun at yourself! I said I was
a klutz, didn't I? We've had a number of people in SURVIVOR over the years who
were abused as children, so I tend to be a bit cautious with such matters. :-)

JB> Ah, what're you gonna do, eh? Roll with the changes!

Uh-huh. By the time you factor in the cost of moving you may find it
preferable to stay where you are... maybe with a few minor changes. My parents
lived in the city & went everywhere on foot or by bus. We have friends who say
they can't afford to live in the city. They got a bigger house for less money,
but they also own two motor vehicles per capita... where my parents had none...
because nothing is within walking distance & the bus service is minimal. Seems
to me their expenses are roughly equal but their priorities are different. :-)
